No Sew Baby Headband (AND a Great Giveaway)!
My Obsession with Baby headbands continues and today I am sooooooo excited to bring you a tutorial and a giveaway! Every time I make a headband I shake my head at how much money I spent right after the Boss was born on these. Here is one of my latest projects. It was so easy and looks so pretty.
Materials
Glue Gun
Elastic
Hawaiian Lei
Felt
Rhinstones
Scissors
Measure the head this band will decorate and cut the elastic to the correct length. Use a small piece of felt, the same width as your elastic and place glue on the felt and stick one end of the elastic on the felt and then the other end of the other side of the felt. If you enjoy sewing you can stitch the two ends together and then glue the felt on, otherwise the glue works great as well.
Then place the same size felt on the top. This secures the the elastic and protects your baby's head.
Cut your lei and pull some of the flowers off. Place a small dot of glue on the centre of your felt and glue one of the flowers on. Layer the flowers with a dot of glue between each layer until the flower is your desired puffiness.
Finish your band with a final dot of glue and a rhinestone in the middle. I choose a flower but you could use any shape you like.
TADA!
Isn't this gorgeous? Here's the best part...the cost! Elastic was from my local fabric store 3 yards for $1 (I've heard this type of elastic is hard to find so check out Elastic By The Yard here), the lei and the rhinestones were from the Dollar store, and I already had the glue. This headband literally cost me $3 but since I had more than enough materials for 6 they would cost me $0.50 each! Nice Right?
AND NOW A GIVEAWAY
Let me introduce you to Kristin from Elastic By The Yard! She can be found on Etsy or on her blog. This great shop offers elastic perfect for headbands. She offers a ton of different colours in both 1/8 and 5/8 widths. She also sells pre-cut felt flowers you can add to the back of your band to give a more professional look, much prettier than my felt rectangle. She also offers personally cut and glued headbands in one of five standard sizes: newborn, 3-6 months, 6-12 months, 12 months - tween, or adult. This means all you have to do is decorate! I am definitely going to try some skinny bands. Kristen offers a tutorial on her blog here on how to decorate a skinny band.
Kristin is offering 3 of the 10 yard multi-packs of fold over elastic...this is the type of elastic I used for the above tutorial! If you are the lucky winner you will get to select the colours that you would like to use for your creations.

Come Join The Party
Welcome to all Ultimate Blog Party visitors! Thank you so much for stopping by! One of the things I love most about the blogging world is the social network, and what better way to network than a party! While we are on the topic of a good party, this party is definitely my style these days. Sitting on my bed, in my Lulu's, between laundry and cleaning the house during Baby's nap time...I call that a good party!
I am a Mommy to a beautiful 10 month old Baby girl (I refer to her as The Boss on the blog...it only seems appropriate). Her arrival took us a bit by surprise but I can honestly say my life has never felt as complete as it does with my baby girl. But, I'm getting ahead of myself.
I am Canadian and my husband is American. We met in Virginia at school. After dating for nine months we got engaged and married nine months later on July 12, 2008. We lived in Virginia for a year as a married couple before we moved to Canada to be closer to my family. Shortly after we got here we found out that we were having a baby. The Boss was born May 26, 2010 turning our two into three.
We currently live in Canada but my husband is from Florida so we make frequent trips to see the family.
I am currently on the tail end of my maternity leave (thank you Canada for a full year off) and will be returning for work at the beginning of June. I love being a Mommy and no longer think as an individual but as a Mommy first. The Boss has so much personality and I love watching her grow and develop. My passions include shopping, decorating and DIY.
So now that you've partied with me, go and party somewhere else! Please leave me a comment letting me know you were here, along with a link to your blog as well. If you want to join the fun, and haven't already, just drop by 5 Minutes for Mom and add your blog, Facebook page or Twitter to the linky and follow the directions to join in the Ultimate Blog Party.
Be sure to check back here tomorrow as I will be posting a great baby girl tutorial and a GIVEAWAY!

Spring Party
This weekend my niece turned one and my sister and brother-in-law hosted our family and friends to celebrate their baby girl. They had a butterfly theme which went perfectly with the time of year. My sister used bright colours and fun decorations to make her special day perfect.
The beautiful host...my Sister with her Pottery Barn inspired Butterfly Mobile
Here's the Pottery Barn version...$89.99
...and my sister's.
Isn't it amazing!!!! She used scrapbook paper from the dollar store, fishing line and a twig.
They looked adorable and were a hit with the kids!
I helped create these Martha Stuart inspired centre pieces. We followed this tutorial for the flowers and then my sister added butterfly pictures she had taken at a butterfly conservatory.
The birthday girl had the perfect dress for her party too.
Finally, could this cake be anymore perfect? My Brother-in-law is a chef, and this cake tasted as good as it looked!
Happy Birthday Baby Abby!
Our Weekend....
This weekend all three of us were plagued with a spring cold, meaning our weekend was filled with this...
this...
this....
...and more of this.
I LOVE them!
Happy Spring!

This weekend we will also be celebrating my niece's First Birthday!
Happy Birthday Baby Abby!!! I can't believe she is one already! Our little April Fools baby. Two weeks early she is the perfect little addition to my sister's family. When we heard my sister was in labour my husband's first re-action was "it's a joke...it's April Fools today." Well it was no joke! She's was born one year ago and perfect in every way. How excited were we when eight weeks later The Boss was also a girl!
Her party is going to be so cute. My sister has spent a ton of time planning for the party. On Tuesday The Boss and I had a play date with my niece and nephew and my sister and I worked on projects for the party during nap time. I'll post pictures after the weekend.
Have a great weekend!
